A few weeks ago we purchased a new mixer at The Bridge (PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2) and it gives us the ability to easily record everything we do. So last week I recorded the service and decided to do a rough mix (When I say "rough" I mean it!) of a song we did called "Forever Reign". You can check it out below.

Man Up

We did production for a Conference a couple weeks ago called "Man Up". For this conference we used a wide variety of services we have to offer. . . Here's a run down of all the technology we used for this event:

Sound

Biggest system we own... There was a different band on both nights so it required completely different stage gear (mics, drums, monitors, etc) between the two nights. Here's a general overview:

Wedges on the 1st Night

I could go on and on. . .

Lighting

We got lucky here and were able to patch in and use all of the "In House" lighting for Front/White lighting, which made it slightly easier on us but also made it look much better since the Centene Center has a lot to offer in this area. To make that happen we used a program called MyDMX and a Chauvet DMX Splitter. Here's what lighting we used of ours:

6 LED Pars on Floor
9 LED Pars on Truss
2 LED Wash Panels on Floor
2 LED Wash Panels on Truss
1 LED Strip
MyDMX ran on an HP Laptop

Screens

(2) 7.5' x 10' Rear Project Screens
(2) 2000 Lumen Projectors on Rear Screens
(1) 3200 Lumen Projector on Backdrop Screen
Cat 5 to VGA Converters for Long Runs

We used a program called Easy Worship for Backgrounds/Lyrics on the Center Screen. Ran on a Sony Vaio.

Video

For this event we used 3 Camera Positions. We had live video on the outside screens and recorded that signal as well.

I've been busy with MANY different events lately. . . from weekend youth events to big wedding receptions, we've been doing it all! And by "we" I mean PureSonic Productions and/or Parallax View. All this along with my "normal" job at The Bridge has kept me pretty busy over the last month. (not to mention a mass amount of family time mixed in there) It's been a lot of fun though. . . The amount/variety of events we've been doing has allowed me to acquire some new cool gear, which I plan to start blogging about soon. I've been having lots of thoughts and ideas like "hey, I should blog about that" lately, so this is my attempt to start that. Over the next few days I will post some pictures of events that we're producing. Stay tuned!

Christmas!

Christmas was great this year! Lots of family time and too much food. . . It was Addelynn's first Christmas and I think it's obvious (pic below) that she enjoyed it!

All the events and services for "A Global Christmas" at The Bride was also a success this year. . . It was definitely the most we've ever put in to a Christmas series. Christ was glorified! Can't wait for next year!

So last night I was laying in bed, not sleeping, and my brain wouldn't stop thinking about how I liked these words and how they would go great with the old hymn "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus". . . so I ended up getting out my phone and jotting down this entire song. Today, I showed it to Josh after our weekly planning meeting at The Bridge, and we decided to record it real fast on my iPhone so we could remember it. Last weekend we played the Spring LCMS at Camp Windermere. . . I must say it's always a great time! Leading over 500 middle-school age kids in worship is always adventurous. Album Of The Week

I've been listening to a lot of good new(ish) music lately. . . one of my favorite albums this week is "Life Light Up" by Christy Nockels. There are some great songs on this album filled with powerful lyrics and amazingly clever musicianship. Being married to Nathan Nockels must be pretty convenient! I'd say we'll probably be doing some of these songs at The Bridge soon.

Once again, I fail to post on a regular basis. So let's sum it up in one big post!

Number 1 - We recently found that that my wife is pregnant! We had our first official doctor visit today. . . she's about 8 weeks along. Here is a (crappy iPhone) pic of the ultrasound. It's our little bean baby!

Number 2 - I built a new stage set at The Bridge. I'm rather proud of this one. . . it's my first experience with building a decent looking set. It's amazing what you can do with some Wood, Screen Wire, Tulle and Filter Paper. . . This is a pic from worship.

Number 3 - Lately, I've really began to look around me and realize that God has placed some amazing people around me... my wife, family, friends, church. All of these people are amazing and they've all played a big role in who I am and where I'm at today. Hopefully I can manage to pay back the favors of Love and Kindness that they've all shown me and continue to do so. . .

Anyways. . . enough rambling for one night. I think I will try to start blogging more. . . we'll see how that goes.

Water 4 Water

I had the pleasure of hanging out with some of my friends I haven't seen in a while this past weekend, Justin and Meredith Pobst. They came up and played and sang in our worship band on Sunday and it was awesome! Anyways, Justin has started a non-profit organization called Water4Water that sells bottles of water to raise money for building water wells in Africa. Our band has decided to support this organization by selling the water at our shows. Hopefully we can make a difference! Check out the Water4Water website.

I've been spending a lot of time at the lake, and have been getting into watersports... Learning how to ski was very interesting and painful, but now its addicting. I also just bought an O'brien kneeboard, which I'm pretty excited about. Hopfully I dont injure myself before summer is over. . .

I got to spend lots of time with my family over the weekend. The 4th of July was pretty exciting. . . lots of explosions. This Wednesday we have a show in Park Hills at Columbia Park for a World Changers get together. It should be a good time! We are going to try out some new tunes and I am very excited about that. I'm going to finally attempt to make some previews of the new Parallax View songs. . . . hopefully I can do that tonight after band practice. We finally have the plans done for our new church building. It's a Sprung structure and around 21,000 square feet. It's going to be awesome! We are very excited and can't wait to get it done. Today me and Ben spent a few hours in the studio laying down some vocals for a couple new Parallax View tunes. Also, we worked on some songs for the Bridge album as well. . . They are all sounding pretty awesome. I've been doing a lot of programming lately with Reason that is going to add a lot to our sound. Mark and I will be going back into the studio on Monday to do some more work on the PV tunes. I will post some clips soon.

Also, this image is one of our new logos. We just ordered new shirts and stickers with this design. Pretty isn't it?

The last couple days we've been working on the new Bridge Worship CD. The recording is moving along fast and I have been programming like crazy. This week I finally got my own copy of Reason 4 and Ableton Live (which both are used for midi sequencing and loops) and they have pretty much kept me busy. I just finished up a couple of loops for All Because of Jesus and Not to Us. Here's the line-up so far for the Worship album. . .

MIDI In Your Face

In case you don't know. . . I own a recording studio. Recently, I got out my MIDI Interface and have gotten into loops, sequencing and all kinds of MIDI stuff. And, last week we upgraded to Sonar 7 (cakewalk). It came with a ton of new MIDI sounds which has blown my mind. So tonight, Mark (my cousin) and I decided to work on the new Parallax View album for a little while. After about 3 hours of playing with hundreds of different sounds, we finally recorded some tracks that sound awesome. There's so much you can do with this stuff its amazing! Sequencing has brought our music to a whole new level. Needless to say. . . I love it! Maybe I'll post some sneak peaks here shortly. . .

This is my first post. . .so it should be a wonderful one. Today was one crazy day! I got to see the newest addition to my family (Halle) which was awesome! Also, I have a feeling this is going to turn out to be one busy week. . . Its my last week of school and I've got a lot to accomplish in these last few days. But its not too bad. . .

Today I got a new laptop that will be a big help in creating and running the new loops and click tracks we've been working on for the Church band and Parallax View. I can't wait to see how all of that turns out! Anyways. . .thats what's up. More to come.
